WCCI KARACHI SOUTH CELEBRATES PAKISTAN’S REMARKABLE WOMEN


Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry Karachi (South) hosted International Women’s Day celebration, titled Pakistan’s Remarkable Women, here earlier today, at Ghafoor Bashir Auditorium, FPCCI Head Office. The chief guest on the occasion was VP Federation Mr Siddiqui.

Hosted by SVP WCCIKS, Bissma Badar, the event kick-started with a welcome address by Shanaz Ramzi, President WCCIKS who traced the activities of the chamber since she took over as president. Guest of Honour, barrister Murtaza Wahab then spoke and acknowledged the importance of the role of women. Nazli Abid Nisar, former vice president FPCCI spoke about her brief term in office at FPCCI two years ago after which the second guest of honour minister Shehla Raza spoke about the challenges a woman has to face in a patriarchal society. An enlightening panel discussion followed in which six eminent women spoke about their individual journeys to empowerment. These were Minister for Women Development, govt. of Sindh Shehla Raza, Dr Sahibjan Badar, Nargis Rehman, Angeline Malik, Samira Raja and Dr Nabila Soomro. Chief guest VP Federation Adeel Siddiqui distributed tokens of appreciation to all the panellists and guests of honour.

This was followed by an awards ceremony. The following were awarded for their exemplary services in various fields:

1) In Medicine: Seemi Jamali, JPMC

2) Philanthropy: Shabina Mustafa, Garage School

3) Social activism: Nargis Rahman, PWFP, KCF

4) Media: Anjaline Malik, actor, director, activist

5) Law enforcement: Saeeda Ghazala, SHO

6) Sohai Talpur, ASP

7) Entrepreneurship: Naila Naqvi, Pie In The Sky

8) Aesthetician: Nighat Misbah, Depilex

9) Grassroot philanthropy: Parveen Saeed, Khana Ghar

9) Bureaucracy: Sherina, Additional Commissioner South,

10) Education: Mrs Kapadia, St. Joseph’s School

After the formal awards, the chief guest also distributed awards and certificates to the chamber executives, past presidents, and presidents of other women chambers.
